Clarification on the matter of Minimum Wage following the Extension Order for the Shortening of the Work Week
On April 24, 2018 the joint steering committee of the heads of Israeli business organizations and the Histadrut General Federation of Labor released a clarification on the consequences of the extension order for the shortening of the work week in the market (“Extension Order”).
In light of disputes on the impact of the Extension Order on the minimum wage, it was clarified that commencing on April 1, 2018, the hourly wage for minimum wage employees, for all scopes of employment (monthly and hourly), will be calculated by dividing the monthly minimum wage of NIS 5,300 by 182 hours per month instead of 186 hours per month (NIS 29.12 per hour).
