We are pleased to present you with another Planning and Zoning Law update which contains summaries of recent court and appeal tribunal decisions.
We direct your attention to an interesting decision of the appeals subcommittee of the National Planning and Building Commission with regard to Tel Aviv’s Atarim Square. The decision highlights the tensions that exist between The Protection of the Coastal Environment Committee in relation to municipal planning matters.
Also, and as reported in the news media, the National Planning and Building Commission approved a change to how density standards in cities are calculated under the National Outline Plan 35. The outcome of the change will be the significant increase in density in Israeli cities. This decision will have an important impact on planning in Israel, on the calculation of density in the outline plans, and of course on the planning of the urban environment.
